Principal’s Message
A woman with blonde hair smiles broadly at the camera.

Dear Hillcrest Heroes,

We are so happy to have you as part of our Hillcrest community.  Hillcrest Elementary School is a special place where our students have the opportunity to cultivate a life-long appreciation and enthusiasm for languages and the cultures they reflect.  It is my pleasure to welcome those of you joining our school family and welcome back our returning families.  I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

Over the course of your time here, we encourage you to get involved!  Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Advisory Council (SAC), and Hillcrest Hero Fund all offer great ways to connect to our community.  Last year, Hillcrest Elementary School celebrated its 100th birthday!  We are incredibly proud of the rich traditions that this school has set forth and we look forward to continuing to grow.  Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of our students and our students continue to impress us as they stretch themselves academically and socially each year.  As you may have seen, we are once again an “A” rated school and that is due to the strong collaborative spirit between our students, staff, and community.

In addition to focusing on standards-based instruction, our specialized foreign language magnet program has been shown to help our students gain an increased knowledge of their relationship to the world by developing an appreciation for other viewpoints and a deeper understanding of their own culture and the world at large.  In short, we are shaping the minds of tomorrow’s world leaders.  This is a task we do not take lightly and our highly qualified staff is ready to take on the challenge!

As a reminder, attendance and participation in learning are key factors in student success.  School starts at 8:45am and it’s imperative our kids show up on time.  Every morning, from 8:15-8:35 we offer free breakfast for all of our students and free lunch is available each day as well.  Be sure to connect regularly with your child’s teacher and take advantage of school events to connect to what it truly means to be a Hillcrest Hero.  Should you need anything or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! It’s going to be an amazing year!

Sincerely,

Bethany Chappetta
